We had red squirrels around our house back when we lived in the woods in New York. They were crazy. One time I was outside reading in the hammock under the trees with my dog in my lap and I became aware of a rough “Rrrr! Rrrr! Rrrr!” sound emanating from somewhere nearby. I eventually traced the sound to a branch up above us, where a red squirrel was leaning over looking daggers at us and growling. I packed up the book and the dog and go inside before the little arboreal lunatic decided to come down and physically chase us away …
